Keith Walter Pillich is a health and safety professional in New York with extensive experience and numerous work-safety certificates. An environmental, health, and safety manager of Vlado Engineering, he is also a licensed HAZWOPER trainer and OSHA safety trainer and a graduate of the University of Buffalo. Beyond his professional obligations, Keith W. Pillich’s hobbies include swimming and skiing.

Skiing offers multiple benefits that can help promote physical health and wellness. Engaging in this activity can strengthen bones and joints in the knees as they bear the body’s weight while skiing. Furthermore, it reduces the chance of osteoporosis and increases proprioceptive strength. Core muscles, such as abdominal and back muscles, are also improved during this activity as they are used to support balance and maneuverability.

Regular skiing can also help people control their weight. Harvard Medical School suggests that a person who weighs 154 pounds can potentially burn over 220 calories in less than one hour through downhill skiing. Experts regard temperature as useful in weight control, and weight loss and cold temperatures help you burn more calories.

Furthermore, skiing can improve cardiovascular endurance and lower the risk of heart diseases. Walking up the slopes instead of using the ski lift works the heart and the lungs and serves as a good cardiovascular exercise.
